COAS Visits Maiduguri As Troops Kill 20 Boko Haram Members, Rescue 150 Children

Buratai, yesterday afternoon visisted
Maiduguri, where he personally commended
soldiers over their sustained victories which
include the killing of 20 Boko Haram
members and recovery of arms from cleared
terror camps.
The troops had also in a separate operation
yesterday, rescued about 150 captives
including children.
The COAS was in Maiduguri on official visit
to formations and units in the North East. He
was accompanied by the Chief of Training
and Operations, Major General YM Abubakar
and other senior officers from the Army
Headquarters.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Col Sani
Kukasheka Usman, said the successes were
achieved through joint operation between
elements of 7 Division and the Cameroonian
forces along Banki-Kumshe axis.
He added that the tactical collaboration led
to the killing of 20 Boko Haram terrorists,
destruction of 4 AK -47 rifles and capture of
a gun truck mounted with an Anti-Aircraft
Gun (AA Gun) and 2 AK -47 rifles, as well as
a 60mm mortar and a Dane gun.
But the success did not go without a minor
setback on the part of the troops.
He said, “Unfortunately, three soldiers
sustained injuries and a vehicle damaged as
a result of an Improvised Explosive Device
(IED) explosion”.
