Manchester United could announce the £65m arrival of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid early next week, according to the Daily Mirror.
Morata has been labelled as United's top transfer target as they look to build their attack around a new focal point following Zlatan Ibrahimovic's departure, and the Mirror has claimed that his switch to the Premier League should be official in the coming days.
Sources in Spain have suggested that the striker will fly into Manchester this weekend to undergo a medical at the club's Carrington training ground and, if no problems are found, will become the latest addition to United's first-team.
Morata became Jose Mourinho's number one target to replace Ibrahimovic, who was released at the end of his contract due to a cruciate knee ligament injury, as the Portuguese turned his attentions away from other possible alternatives.
The Red Devils cooled their interest in long-term target Antoine Griezmann, who subsequently penned a new contract with Atletico Madrid, while Chelsea appeared to be favourites to sign Everton's Romelu Lukaku ahead of United.
Mourinho, though, will not be worried over having to move for Morata instead. The ex-Chelsea manager knows the marksman well from his time in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu, and handed Morata his senior bow for Los Blancos back in 2010.

Knowing fully well what Morata's main strengths are, Mourinho would be able to utilise the Spain international in a way that is extremely advantageous to United and will likely bring the best out of a player who has struggled for regular starts and minutes on the pitch under Zinedine Zidane with Real.
Morata still managed to net 20 goals in all competitions for the La Liga champions last season despite being understudy to Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, and the ex-Juventus star will hope that a good season in United's starting lineup will help cement his place on the plane with Spain for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Once Morata completes his move to Manchester, he will become the club's second summer signing after the £31m capture of Benfica and Sweden defender Victor Lindelof on Wednesday.
