A Brazilian defender has publicly stated that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo does not deserve to win this year's Ballon d'Or.
Many have tipped the Portuguese to win the accolade for a fifth time at the end of the year, mainly due to the fact he won both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League a few months ago.
Despite Ronaldo being the favourite for the award, Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis feels Ronaldo only showed up for Real in the last two months of the 2016/17 campaign.
"The Ballon d'Or is a subjective matter," he told Spanish magazine Panenka.
"Cristiano hasn't done anything until the last two months."
The prestigious prize has been won by either Ronaldo or FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi over the past nine years, with the Argentine winning the accolade five times and the Portuguese having won it on four occasions.
